Salute the DJ. The art of mixing with the skill of the scratch and the needle drop, (created by Grand Wizard Theodore by the way) amongst other skills are placed on its rightful pedestal. The craft, in the eyes of many, has deteriorated by many of today’s Technology DJ’s. How many of the DJ’s that we know and know of are capable of taking a classic vinyl and making you move your body and bob your head to the sounds of the scratch?

Thanks to Brooklyn Bodega, there is an annual effort in place to pay homage to the art of DJing. The effort stands as an upholding of character, craft, art, and knowledge. The DJ has a class all their own, that is often attempted to be mirrored, however, the masterful skill cannot be mimicked.

Salute the DJ is an event that allows the talented and crafty DJ’s of the past, present, and future to show off the skill that is not easy to learn. The DJ has created his/her own language with a style and sound that is exalted throughout the culture of Hip-Hop.

For this historic event, Brooklyn Bodega has put together a memorable line-up that includes the legendary, Marley Marl, who will be paying tribute to Mr. Magic with his “Rap Attack Live” showcase. The turntablist battle veteran, Roli Rho, the inventor of the scratch, Grand Wizzard Theodore, Chicago legend Twilite Tone, and returning host, Torae were in attendance. This line-up of DJs has made their stamp in the Hip-Hop community by doing what they do best, letting their hands do the talking.
