Raw Hip-Hop

Raw Hip-Hop is often considered a lost aspect of Hip-Hop music. We often hear the “what’s hot” and the “nobody don’t rap like that anymore” throughout the thoughts of today’s listener. This makes for one of two things. The first, being room for artist like Ramo. The second thing that it allows is room for flopping. However, the lyrical content maintains true as Ramo give you gritty, rugged, almost 90′s Hip-Hop. It is not that 90′s flow given that Ramo gives you relevance as an artist. Because of his relevance, there is a lane, especially when it’s “raw, rough, and rugged when addressing the mass public; my attitude is fuck it ‘cuz’ mother fuckas love it,” as Jay-Z once put it.

Raw, creative, and versatile are just a few words that describe Ramo DaJaneiro’s style of Hip-Hop. His colorful commentary paints lyrical pictures of his personal experiences growing up in the streets of Detroit and handling life’s everyday pressures. While “Ramo” is the reversal of his government name, Omar, it is also an acronym for: “Running Mothafuckas Over.” Not meant in a literal sense, the acronym symbolizes “an ode to never taking no prisoners in life,” as he states.

Kanye West: Yeezus

Unless you live under a rock where there is no Wi-Fi or cell service, you pretty much know who Kanye West is. From his interruption of Taylor Swift’s MTV video awards acceptance speech to his new love, the most loved and hated Fashionista Kim Kardashian; he’s not too hard to forget. Kanye has always been known for his lyrics and his straight forward critical personality and there’s no surprise that his new album is creating so much controversy. After all, isn’t that what he’s good at?

Kanye’s 6th studio album “Yeezus”, which is scheduled to be released June 18, has been stirring up blasphemous rumors. The artwork for the album has depicted Kanye is the light of Jesus Christ during his time of crucifixion. The photos include Kanye wearing a crown of thorns with lesions on his face looking seemingly beaten and also hanging on the cross with nails in his hand, rocking a gold chain and his own red Air Yeezy’s. The parental advised sticker under the cross gave the impression of a confirmed album cover and a statement unlike any other.

Christians have never been shy about how they feel about the hip hop world and their “disrespectful” religious references. When Meek Mill dropped his single “Amen” a pastor from his hometown in Philadelphia took to social media and the radio to verbalize his disdain for the lyrics and negative connotation of the holy word. Christians from all over, including former Full House star, Candace Cameron-Bure, expressed their dislike for Kanye’s comparison to his holiness. In the bible, Exodus 20:7 states “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.” In the Christian world, this is the law to live by and Kanye looks to be breaking a golden rule

In true Mr. West form, as soon as you think you know what he’s about, he switches things up. Kanye has since changed the cover claiming to take a “less is more” approach and tweeting the official cover as a clear plastic CD case with Red tape on the side with the writing “Yeezus” in black. The album is not available for pre-order and will only be released on its proposed date. Mums the word on West’s end.

With all of the scrutiny and his continuous appearances in the crossroads of “Wow” Street and “Did he really” Avenue, would this be a blasphemous statement of religion or a clever marketing scheme? Whether anyone likes it, West has made himself topic of conversation in any setting and venue. People may dislike his ways but their always current on what he’s doing. His music is on heavy rotation and his antics are closely watched. For his 5th album, “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”, the album artwork was blasted for being borderline pornographic so his 6th album had to follow suit with the contention. Admittedly, we all live for drama and Kanye just keeps us rolling in it.

Young Ladies Rock w/ Fresh New Faces to Make a Difference through Fashion

Daina Elyse & Simply Roe

Up and coming model Management Company, Fresh New Faces, collaborated with the Young Ladies Rock organization, this past Friday, for An Exquisite Fashion Affair, as it was titled. The event mainly consisted of a Fashion Show that took place, at Silver Spoons Loft in Brooklyn. With a packed house, guests were also guaranteed a packed show, and it just so happen to be all in the name of charity, for the Independence Inn #2 Women’s Shelter. The show definitely aimed to entertain by being filled with, not only amazing fashion, but it also tied in music and comedic talents, as well.

Just as Sassy and Puma of VH1’s Black Ink Crew, would give them the queue, Fresh New Faces models strutted down the spotlighted runway in some of the most interesting and obscure pieces in underground fashion. From a fashion stand point, the show offered a ton of variety and maintained a consistency, as well as a great build up.

Collections consisted of some of the most trending silhouettes, colors, prints and separates that tend to be ruling the NYC pavements. With shows like Tashii Designs, viewers got more intricacy and high fashion. Christina Artwell gave color, pop and sexiness. Sam Garvey gave you everyday ready to wear garments, with sprinkles of edge. Lonch Myls gave viewers typical urban streetwear and Neno La Shiro ended the show with a bang, by tying it all together in his collection.

Guests were not only able to see underground designers bless the runway, they also got an opportunity to see some underground rap artists too. Artists like Dave Loncher managed to kill two birds with one stone, giving the audience a taste of his lyrical talent while taking over the runway with his Lonch Myls collection. Female rapper Bonnie gave you hard lyrics while wearing a cute peachy form fitted peplum dress and then there was A.R, Styles, who always manages to give his audience “realism” in his own light and this time was no exception. Marcus Banks, first comedian signed to MMG, loosened the tense and curious folk through his comedic abilities, while BET came through simply to check out the talent and show love. I Am Culture had free giveaways and local DJ, DJ Aye kept the air filled with a variety of feel good tunes.

As Young Ladies Rock continues to move forward with making a difference in the community, Fresh New Faces will be prepping for a follow up fashion show late this summer.

Nicki Minaj VS. Peter Rosenberg

On this Summer Jam XX Sunday, we take this time to bring to you the face-to-face encounter between Nicki Minaj and Peter Rosenberg.

Last year, Lil Wayne pulled his YMCMB roster from the Summer Jam 2012 lineup on Sunday, June 3rd an hour and a half after the concert had already started, because of a statement made by Hot 97 radio personality Peter Rosenberg, which offered a negative review of Nicki Minaj’s track ‘Starships.’ The Young Money general took to Twitter to announce that he’d given the order to his crew, which was followed by tweets of support from Minaj and Birdman.

Rosenberg appeared on the Summer Jam stage to announce a contest when he took shots at Minaj’s track saying that her single was “wack” and implying that her music was not “real Hip-Hop.” “I know there are some chicks in here waiting to sing along with ‘Starships’ later. I’m not talking to y’all right now,” continued Rosenberg.

Essentially, the entire YMCMB portion was pulled from Summer Jam 2012.

Now a year later, Nicki Minaj and Peter Rosenberg revisit it as she finally accepts an interview with the Hot97 morning show, which features E Bro, K Foxx, and Cipha Sounds, alongside Peter Rosenberg. The two of them, in what seemed to be a tense exchange, definitely laid the record straight. With Nicki Minaj expressing her nonchalant feelings towards Peter Rosenberg by not knowing his resume, which seemed to be ignorant, as well as the fact Minaj had never seen nor heard the video of the comments he had made.

Rosenberg felt a need to explain himself, but always maintaining his position has a vivid voice of Hip-Hop. One point to catch, which can be backed up by fact. There is seemingly very little room for a successful female emcee, and by successful, we stress global reach. There are two that globally make/made statements; Lauryn Hill and now, Nicki Minaj.

This is a long overdue interview and took nearly a year to surface.

Hey Pretty Lady

As to be expected, the young new upstart, Gordon Andres, brings another swagger rich and fun filled single. Alongside Big East, Gordon Andres brings you a look into the fun of the 20 something male in ‘Hey Pretty Lady’.

The video draws you into the never ending pursuit of the hard to attain. Men seek beauty, style, booty, and smiles (just to be frank). However, the male will compliment and entice as much as possible. Sometimes, you just can’t win with them. Gordon Andres brings you charisma, vocals, lyrical ability, and of course a cute face; seemingly irresistible. However, the video will show you that even the catches of the male party are sometimes unsuccessful.

Enjoy the comedy and the continuity.

K Wish is rising the right way and his goal is to one day be heard nationally but also remain humble for the people and stay true to his talent.

The post FancySwagHer presents K Wish appeared first on Profanity Magazine.

Introducing K Wish

R&B singer, K Wish, was born Kylon Wishom in Lutcher, LA. As the youngest of three children, he discovered singing at an early age while listening to his late grandmother Leona A. Wishom singing and playing gospel music. Kylon did not know it then, but they were planting the roots of singing in him. His strong gospel background gave him the drive to sing in the choir and praise team.

K Wish has sold over 1,000 copies independently, and had the opportunity to open for Case and Carl Thomas. He has performed at various concerts and hair shows, and he recently opened up for the Good- Life Summer Fest.

K Wish is constantly working to be heard! He is gearing up for a Christmas album and has started his own “I Just Wanna Be Heard” event, which gives other artists a chance for the people to hear them. K Wish is rising the right way and his goal is to one day be heard nationally but also remain humble for the people and stay true to his talent.

FancySwagHer: What inspires your music?

K Wish: My music is inspired by life! To be direct, my life and what I’ve been through and experienced! I mostly sing about the grind, love, sex (smile) …pleasing and giving!

FancySwagHer: How would you describe your sound?

K Wish: My sound is smooth and mellow with a great deal of soul! I have music to make you move, put you in the mood, and/ or and help you sleep! Lol! Yep, K Wish!

FancySwagHer: Can you tell us about “Creating My Own Lane” and what’s your favorite song on the album?

K Wish: The title “Creating My Own Lane” is self explanatory. I feel like I’m on a different path than what’s currently out there and expected in Louisiana. You don’t see too many R&B singers here. My goal is to help bring back good, quality music! “CMOL” …I can’t choose one song over them all, but I do have “Higher than a Molly” on replay! FYI, don’t be alarmed by the title…It’s a song saying my girl take me higher than a drug…deep right? Lol!

FancySwagHer: Can you tell us about the “I Just Wanna Be Heard” movement?

K Wish: I feel being heard is the first step for me to be successful in the game. If I can borrow one ear, I promise I’ll earn the other. My immediate goal is for 1- 10, then 10,000, and hopefully a million one day

FancySwagHer: As a husband and father, do you find it more challenging to be an artist, and if so, how?

K Wish: First off, I love the fact that I am a husband and a father! It’s a new experience as well as an awesome one! Both roles give me more to sing about and more reasons to grind. At times it’s difficult to grind, because I want to make sure I fill any voids in my relationship as well as my kids, but there is no room for excuses! I will be heard!!It’s my path.

FancySwagHer: What are you working on at this time?

K Wish: I just released my second project entitled “CMOL” …which can be found on iTunes, Amazon and Google. I’m preparing to shoot a few videos for some of my favorite singles on the album. Of course, I’m doing shows everywhere! Every opportunity is a good one…again I just wanna be heard!

FancySwagHer: How would you describe your swagger?

K Wish: Swagger??? I don’t use that word, Lol! Spoken humbly …I can say I am smooth, grown, and growing, loyal and sexy!

Be sure to check out K Wish.

Profanity Kick Picks

Kicks, kicks, kicks!!!

Once again, we at Profanity MAG give you our Profanity Kick Picks. Highlighting the fashionable picks from urban through couture with the focus on your style. Get with it.

SNS x Reebok Question Mid

It is called “The shoe about nothing’’ but clearly, whoever came up with that name was trying to be humorous. With this colorway, this shoe screams everything, but it tends to scream “buy me” a little louder than everything else.

SNS Reeebok Question is available now.

Giuseppe Zanotti “Maxi Fringe” Sneakers

Sort of like moccasins for men, these Zanotti shoes can be deemed rather interesting. This suede shoe has an edge its own, with fringe and zipper detailing and a retailing price of $595.00, it would be interesting to see these actually being pulled off.

Maison Martin Margiela Hand Paints

These hand painted kicks definitely snag the eye. Made with white nappa leather, and complete with an authentic gum sole, suede detailing and a padded ankle, fully lined in soft lamb leather it all sounds good, but would you really cop?

Margiela’s hand painted kicks retail at $478.00.

Asics Gel Lyte III Neon

With its very distinctive silhouette, the gel lyte III shoe keeps getting hotter and hotter, especially with its latest neon color release. Based in white with black, neon and infrared accents, suede detailing and signature gel cushioning, these make for a great athletic shoe.

Neon Gel Lyte Asics retail at $120.00 and are available at Kith NYC stores.

Nike Air Trainer max ’91 Bo Pack

Based in Oakland Raiders Colorway, black and silver, this shoe comes with an ulterior motive- to celebrate the key elements of Bo Jackson’s career. The shoe contains straps across the front that read “Bo Knows”, along with the raiders logo on the left heel and Jacksons number 34 on the right.

Getting the sneaker is only half the job though, to round off the “pack” you would have to cop Jackson white jersey, to accompany the kicks of course.

The “Bo Pack” is available at Nike stores.

The Air Jordan Fear Pack is the package that sneakers heads crave more than the AJ 11/12 release. Here's your reason to spend.

The post Air Jordan Fear Pack 3-4-5 appeared first on Profanity Magazine.

Air Jordan Fear Pack – 3/4/5

Enter the Fear Pack; a grim, yet stylish rendition to the many Air Jordan packages of the recent years. However, a focus on the shades as opposed to the colors (stay with me slow people) is highlighted. We set 3, 4, and 5, which can be argued as the more popular pairs. Why not release them together.

The never ending desire to post a pic on Instagram and hash tag “but I got them Jay’s though” will probably never go away. In recent news, the Jordan regime is said to continue on with the anticipating release the “Fear Pack” later on this year.

The pack will consist of 3 shoes, Jordan numbers 3, 4 and 5 with all black and white colorways. Though the designs for the “4” and “5” sneakers have been confirmed, the color combo for the “3” is still in limbo.

These shoes are expected to drop end of this year.
